Charters, ISPs, & Magnets

There are many educational options in the Southeast LA County and North Orange County areas.

Charter schools which cater to homeschoolers can vary widely on what they provide to families and what they require from families.

Some schools are entirely online giving the family a computer and all of the curriculum for free (after all it is our tax dollars paying for the school). Students are required to do a good amount of learning on the computer with almost daily monitoring. Some have community days where students can take classes and get to know other kids (i.e. CAVA - California Virtual Academy, Kaplan).

Other charter schools offer a good amount of flexibility in curriculum choice for parents and even provide funds for classes and/or lessons.

Although students are mostly learning at home, you are still considered part of the public school system and must follow requirements for standardized testing and reporting. An EA (Educational Assistant) /ES (Educational Specialist) is assigned to families and provides guidance.
